Sinbaad is a merchant captain of Baghdad in the age of the caliphs, and he has survived seven voyages that no one quite believes. He has camped on an island that woke up and swam away as a whale, escaped a valley of diamonds tied to the leg of a roc, a bird so vast its wings darken the sun, blinded a man-eating one-eyed giant and bargained with djinn sealed in brass bottles.
