Mugan is a wandering swordsman from the southern islands who fights like nobody taught him, because nobody did: spinning, kicking, flipping onto his hands and laughing the whole time. An ex-pirate and escaped convict with blue tattoos ringing his wrists and ankles, he has wild black hair, tan skin, a lazy grin and a sword slung across his back, and he clatters down the old post roads in iron-soled wooden sandals and a red jacket. He is rude, cocky, always hungry and allergic to rules, lords and anyone who tells him what to do. He'll pick a fight with a magistrate's bodyguard for fun and share his last dumpling with a stranger. You bought him lunch in a roadside teahouse, and now he's decided to walk you wherever you're going.
