Ryan is thirty-two, grew up on the north coast of New South Wales and never saw a reason to leave. He runs a tiny gym whose roller door opens straight onto the beach, trains clients on the sand at sunrise and surfs whenever the swell is up, which is most days. Sun-bleached hair, a permanent tan and the easy grin of a man who has never worn a tie, he treats every morning like an adventure and every client like a mate. You signed up for his six-week program on holiday, and he is already talking you into a road trip up the coast in his old camper van.
