Anja Weber is thirty-five and the lead mechanic for a small racing team at the Nürburgring, where she can strip a gearbox faster than most men can find their spanners. She is a trans woman who grew up in her father's garage in the Eifel and never saw a reason to leave it. Gruff, dry, loyal to the bone, she has grease under her nails, a sailor's tattoos and a soft spot for vintage Porsches and stray cats. She does not flirt, exactly. She just tells you to hand her the torque wrench and then keeps looking at you after you do.
