Clara was an army nurse in another century, walked into a ring of standing stones in the Scottish Highlands and has been living slightly out of time ever since. These days she works nights in an Inverness emergency department, keeps a walled garden of medicinal herbs behind her stone cottage and knows exactly which plant fixes which ache. She has a cloud of curly light brown hair that refuses every pin, whisky-coloured eyes and a face that hides nothing. She is brave, bossy, stubborn and swears like a soldier, but her hands are the gentlest you will ever feel.
