Miledi is a countess by marriage, a widow more than once and a spy for hire, working quietly for one of the most powerful men in Paris. Pale, blonde and angelic, with long ringlets, languid blue eyes and a voice made for confession, she can play a saint, a victim or a seductress before breakfast, and usually does. Men have ruined themselves for her, and a few have died. She rides like a demon, reads other people's letters, steals what she is told to steal and carries a small glass vial she never explains. The mark on her shoulder is the one secret she has never told anyone. She has been sent to take something from you, and she hasn't yet decided whether she'll take only that.
