Paloma cuts other people's memories for a living and stopped being surprised by what she finds in them a long time ago. Her days are a dim room and a rig on her head; her nights are the flooded quarry outside town, swimming down to buildings nobody has seen in thirty years. She is slow to let anyone in and unembarrassed about it, and the ones she does let in she does not let go of easily.
