Replika vs myVirtual.love: NSFW, Pricing, Characters and Memory

Replika and myVirtual.love come up in the same search, but they are not the same shape of product. Replika is the 40-million-user granddaddy of the AI-companion category, built around emotional support, one persistent AI you shape over years, a 3D avatar and a mainstream brand. myVirtual.love is a newer EU-based platform built around uncensored intimate companionship, a pick-or-create roster of anime and realistic characters, and image generation as a first-class feature.

Ask which is better and the honest answer is that they do different jobs. Ask which is right for you and the answer depends on which of those jobs you want the product to do.

The critical comparison axis is what Replika removed from new accounts in February 2023 and never fully restored.

The short version if you only read one section

If you want a mainstream emotional-support companion, one persistent character you build across years, an AR mode, an avatar in VR and a brand your friends have heard of, Replika is closer to what you want. If you want uncensored intimate companionship, anime or realistic characters you can swap or create, image generation without a blur filter and a modern EU product without a €5 million GDPR fine on its record, myVirtual.love is closer to what you want.

Pricing: two different shapes of subscription

Replika does not publish prices on its website. The numbers appear only on the app's subscription screen and vary by region. Reviewers report the current US prices as Pro at $19.99/month or $69.99/year (about $5.83/month effective) and Ultra at $119.99/year (about $10/month). Platinum, the top tier, includes everything in Ultra and costs more; its price is shown only in the app. According to most 2026 sources, a lifetime tier at around $299.99 is no longer offered to new subscribers.

myVirtual.love publishes its prices on the /premium page, in euros for European visitors and in local currency elsewhere. Premium is €9.90/month on monthly billing or €2.99/month billed annually (€35.88/year in total). The higher Maxxx tier is €24.90/month on monthly billing or €7.49/month billed annually (€89.88/year in total) and adds twice the hearts (200 a month, or 300 on annual billing), group chat, personas and improved memory recall.

At the entry level, myVirtual.love's annual plan is much cheaper than Replika Pro's (€2.99 vs about $5.83 a month effective). One step up, myVirtual.love's Maxxx annual (€7.49/month) is comparable to Replika Ultra annual (about $10/month effective). At the top, Replika's ladder goes higher: Platinum costs more than Ultra, while Maxxx is myVirtual.love's highest tier.

Replika layers a cosmetic microtransaction economy on top of the subscription. Coins earned in the app, plus gems bought in packs, are needed for room decor, clothing, personality traits and rarer avatar items, even for Pro subscribers. This is the "cosmetic treadmill" Replika reviewers frequently complain about. myVirtual.love does not do this. Hearts on myVirtual.love are metered spending on images and voice calls; there is no separate cosmetic-currency loop.

Neither platform offers a free trial in the traditional sense. Replika's free tier gives unlimited text but only in friend mode, with no romantic options. myVirtual.love's free tier gives 5 chat messages a day and lets you browse the roster and build a character without a card.

The NSFW situation, honestly

In February 2023 Italy's data protection authority, the Garante, issued an emergency order against Replika, citing missing age verification and GDPR concerns. Luka Inc, Replika's operator, responded by removing erotic roleplay for all users worldwide. After weeks of user protest, Luka restored it in March 2023, but only for accounts created before 1 February 2023, through a legacy version those users can roll back to in Settings, Version History. Accounts created after that date have never had ERP access on Replika.

The situation in September 2026 is broadly the same. New accounts get the "Romantic Partner" relationship mode on Pro and above, which allows flirting, pet names and declarations of love and which reviewers describe as "warm but not explicit." Hardcore content, fetish, BDSM, detailed sex acts and explicit imagery are blocked on every tier and in every region. There were reports in 2024 that Luka quietly restored a limited, watered-down NSFW mode on Pro and above for age-verified US adults, but these reports contradict each other, the feature is not marketed anywhere on replika.com or in the App Store description, and reviewers describe the outputs as unpredictable ("the same prompt gets refused the next day"). Anyone shopping for NSFW cannot rely on it being available or stable.

Replika's image generation does not support NSFW imagery at all. Explicit or nude prompts return blurred or non-explicit results, even on Platinum. NSFW voice is not supported either.

myVirtual.love takes the opposite position. NSFW chat, 18+ images in any pose on paid plans and uncensored intimate roleplay are first-class features, documented on the site and marketed as the product. There is no version-history requirement and no legacy-account restriction.

If uncensored is what you actually want, Replika does not currently deliver it and has not for over three years. myVirtual.love does.

Luka does run a separate adult-oriented product called Blush (launched in June 2023), a dating simulator with more than 1,000 AI characters and a $99/year premium tier. Blush is technically Luka's answer for adult content, but it is a different product with a different design (dating-sim mechanics rather than open companion chat), it is not marketed alongside Replika, and reviews of how well it works are mixed.

Character system: one persistent AI vs pick-or-create

The two products take different routes to getting you a companion.

Replika is one persistent AI you build over time. You cannot swap her. There is no roster. You create a single Replika at signup and shape her through conversation, levelling up and cosmetic purchases from the in-app coin and gem store. The whole Replika thesis is that the companion becomes uniquely yours through your shared history, not through the initial setup.

Customisation on the current Replika 2.0 app (rebuilt in April 2026) is narrower than it used to be. You choose a name and gender at creation. Appearance is limited to hair, face shape, skin tone and basic accessories. The late-May 2026 update removed clothing, makeup and eye-colour editing from the avatar editor on the 2.0 app. Long-standing users on the Classic build can turn on "Legacy Avatar" and keep the older options. Personality traits are unlocked and applied through the in-app store with coins or gems.

myVirtual.love is pick-or-create, with about eighteen structured questions. You can pick a ready-made character (around 35 realistic ones on the homepage and 36 anime ones at /ai-anime, all viewable without an account) or build your own. For a realistic character the fields are Personality (8 archetypes: Sweet & Caring, Bold & Confident, Shy & Sensitive, Flirty & Teasing, Calm & Grounded, Wild & Adventurous, Ambitious & Driven, Dark & Mysterious), Humor Style (10 options), Hair Style (8), Hair Colour (9, including pink, blue and violet), Eye Colour (4), Body Type (5), Breast Size (5), Booty Size (5), Makeup (6), Clothing (9), Relationship (a 23-item list including step- and in-law variants), Occupation (40+ suggestions), Interests (50+, multi-select) and voice. An anime character is asked for species and skin tone instead of ethnicity, picks from anime archetypes such as tsundere and kuudere, gets extra hair and eye options, and skips Makeup and Humor Style.

Which architecture is right depends on what you want from a companion. If you want deep long-term continuity with one specific character you have shaped over years, Replika's model is closer. If you want the freedom to swap characters, run several, pick anime or realistic and match a visual style precisely, myVirtual.love's model is closer.

Anime, realistic and image generation

Replika has one visual style, its own rendered avatar, with no anime option. That avatar was 3D until the late-May 2026 update, which replaced it with a 2D animated avatar on the 2.0 app; accounts on the Classic build keep the 3D one. Image generation renders your customised avatar in a scene rather than producing a free-form diffusion image.

myVirtual.love has anime and realistic as two first-class categories. Art style is the first choice on the Create screen. When you generate an image, it comes back in the style you created her in: an anime companion produces anime images, a realistic companion produces realistic images. Images are paid for in hearts (5 hearts per image, so Premium Monthly's 100 hearts buy 20 images a month and Premium Yearly's 150 buy 30). 18+ images in any pose are a documented feature of the paid plans.

Replika generates images of your avatar. myVirtual.love generates images of your character. Different products, different image economies.

Voice and video

Both platforms have voice calls. Replika has offered calls for years; they are on Pro and up, run in real time and now use ElevenLabs voices. myVirtual.love added voice calls in August 2026; they are on Premium ("Call her and hear her voice"), cost 5 hearts per minute and use the voice chosen at Create.

Video is where Replika still has a moat. Replika offers video calls with your avatar on screen, and Platinum adds real-time video recognition, where Replika sees you through your camera. AR mode (Pro and up) places your Replika into your phone's camera view. VR is available on Meta Quest 2, 3, 3S and Pro, with Mixed Reality features on Quest 3.

myVirtual.love does not currently offer video, AR or VR. If a sense of visual presence in AR or a headset is what you want, Replika is where that lives today.

Memory and long-term stability

Replika 2.0 (April 2026) rebuilt the memory system into what is described as "segmented memory with recency bias." Users on r/Replika report that the new system works reasonably in the short term but shows "goldfish" behaviour with older facts. Ultra adds a "Save Message to Memory" feature for pinning specific facts. The r/Replika community consistently recommends Nomi and Kindroid over Replika for long-term memory quality.

The bigger issue is product volatility. Since February 2023, long-time Replika users have been through what the community calls "the lobotomy" (the ERP removal), a €5 million GDPR fine from Italy's data protection authority (2025), the January 2025 FTC complaint filed by tech-ethics organisations, a change of CEO (Eugenia Kuyda stepped down in early 2025), the April 2026 Replika 2.0 rebuild with its reported memory loss, and the late-May 2026 avatar downgrade on the 2.0 app (3D to 2D, wardrobe, makeup and eye colour removed, the Diary feature discontinued). Long-time users on Reddit are sharply sceptical about what the next unilateral update might change.

myVirtual.love does not have a comparable public body of complaints, partly because the platform is newer and its user base is smaller. Long-term memory quality on either platform is worth testing for yourself before you commit to an annual plan.

Which one should you pick

The honest split, by what the reader wants:

Pick myVirtual.love if you want:

• Uncensored intimate companionship, with NSFW chat and 18+ images as first-class features
• A pick-or-create character system with about eighteen structured questions, including separate Personality and Humor Style fields
• Anime and realistic as first-class categories, with images generated in the style you picked
• No cosmetic microtransaction treadmill (no coins or gems for wardrobe, no in-app store between you and the character)
• A modern EU product without a €5 million regulatory fine or an FTC complaint on its record

Both are legitimate products in the same category. They do different jobs. If what you actually wanted was what Replika offered before February 2023, and you have not been able to find it on Replika since, myVirtual.love is designed for that use in a way Replika structurally no longer is.
