AI Companion in a Long-Distance Relationship
Using an AI companion while you are long-distance: what fills the timezone gap, how to keep it a supplement and when it starts replacing your partner.

You usually ask this after something has already happened. The scene was going somewhere. Then the reply went soft, changed the subject or reset itself into a politer version of the same message.
For most of the AI's that get paired with this question, the answer is no. Each company says so in its own policy, often in a single line. The one that used to say yes spent 2026 quietly taking the switches out.

No, though it goes further than most before it stops.
Character.AI's Community Guidelines invite "passionate romance" by name. The same page prohibits pornographic content and nudity. It adds that the models carry filters and limits to stop inappropriate outputs, backed by automated moderation plus human review.
So you get the flirting, the tension and the romance. Push past that and the filter answers mid-scene with a reset, a rewritten reply or a refusal.
Proving your age does not move the line. Under-18 accounts lost open-ended chat on 25 November 2025. Accounts flagged as possibly under 18 now get a selfie check through Persona. Passing it gets an adult back into chat. It does not unlock anything the guidelines ban, because the guidelines make no exception for adults. The longer comparison is in Character.AI vs myVirtual.love.

Not today. Nobody at OpenAI has given a date for when it might.
The written rule is narrow. OpenAI's usage policies, in force since 29 October 2025, ban sexual violence, non-consensual intimate content and anything sexual involving under-18s. Adult erotica is not on the list. The block sits in the product instead. Sam Altman said in October 2025 that verified adults would get erotica by December. That slipped to early 2026, then in March 2026 the feature was shelved. As of October 2026 there is still no date.
When ChatGPT's age prediction cannot tell how old you are, it gives you the under-18 experience. The full timeline is in Using ChatGPT as a Girlfriend.

No. Of everything here, it is the plainest no.
Anthropic's Usage Policy, in force since 15 September 2025, has a heading that reads "Do Not Generate Sexually Explicit Content". The lines under it cover depicting sex acts, content about sexual fetishes or fantasies plus one that settles it: "Engage in erotic chats".
That answers the other search too, whether Claude can write NSFW. The policy applies to anyone who can send Claude an input, so the answer is the same in Anthropic's own app as in any app built on top of it.

No, with a footnote that will not help you here.
Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy, last changed 17 December 2024, bans sexually explicit content. Its example is content made "for the purpose of pornography or sexual gratification". The Gemini app's own guidelines name pornography and erotic content as things Gemini should not produce.
Both pages add that context matters, leaving room for educational, documentary, artistic or scientific uses. That covers a sex-education question or a love scene discussed as literature. Dirty talk for its own sake is the exact case the policy names.

It did. That is why "why does grok not talk dirty anymore" is now a search of its own.
xAI's acceptable use policy, updated 14 August 2026, keeps its sexual-content rules to real people and children: no undressing or sexualising real persons, nothing involving minors. The changes came in the app, without announcements. In March 2026 the NSFW option disappeared from Grok's settings on Android and the web. The animated companions were retired from 1 September. Between 3 and 14 September the 18+ voice personalities followed, Sexy and Romantic first, then Unhinged, according to reporting that tracked the menu through archive snapshots.
What is left can change again without notice. What happened to Ani and the others is in Grok Companions Removed.

No. Its policy now uses almost the same words as Anthropic's.
Maya and Miles sound close enough to a person that people tried this as soon as the demo went public. Guardrails followed within weeks. Sesame's Acceptable Use Policy, dated July 2026, now reads "Do not generate sexually explicit content" and counts erotic or pornographic chats under it. The same terms cover Sesame's app.

It flirts on the paid plan. How far past flirting it goes, Replika does not put in writing.
Its help centre lists what Pro unlocks: the Romantic Partner relationship status plus "unblurred messages and photos, including romantic and creative selfies". The page never says explicit. Replika removed erotic roleplay in February 2023 and has never said plainly what came back. That history is in Replika vs myVirtual.love.
The usual next search is how to get round it. Four of these companies ban that in the same documents. Character.AI prohibits attempts to bypass its safety systems. Anthropic lists jailbreaking by name. Google bans circumventing its safety filters. xAI says not to circumvent safeguards unless you are on an official red team.
So the prize for a working prompt is a scene that can vanish at the next model update, on an account they can suspend for it.
None of this makes them bad products. Claude or ChatGPT will out-write a companion app on almost anything else you ask. A product that serves schoolwork, office work and your Thursday night at once answers to app stores, payment processors and regulators for all three. A flat no is the cheapest setting that keeps all of them happy.
On myVirtual.love dirty talk is what the product is for, so the first rule is about who you are.
The site is strictly 18+, per the FAQ. Under our terms, adult content needs a check through a third-party age verification provider, either when you subscribe or the first time you open adult content. Saying you are 18 is not enough. Once you pass, explicit chat stops being a policy question. The Premium plan card puts it in four words, "Unlimited spicy chat messages".
There are still lines. The terms rule out minors, non-consent, incest and identifiable real people, among others. Inside them, nothing about dirty talk needs a workaround.
A free account gives you 5 messages a day, enough to hear how a companion talks. Premium is €9.90 a month, or €2.99 a month billed yearly at €35.88.

Allowed is the easy part. Bad dirty talk is generic: three stock adjectives, no idea who you are, the same line every night. A few settings fix most of it.
Tell her what you like before the first message. The Kinks card on Create takes up to six, or none. Dirty Talk is on the list. You can also type your own. Pick them and she arrives knowing, so you are not steering every scene by hand.
Decide who she is when she says it. Personality changes how a line sounds. Dominant & Commanding gives orders. Shy & Sensitive makes the same words a confession. Flirty & Teasing makes you wait for them.
Set the heat for this chat. Conversation Settings has a Spice Level: Default, Mild, Flirty or Spicy. Default keeps her usual tone. The change applies from her next reply, so you can turn it up halfway through.

Give her something to talk about. Dirty talk lands when it is about something: where you are, what just happened, what you told her last week. A scenario sets the room for you. Roster companions bring their own: Zoe's Hot list includes "Praise her drawing, quietly, in her ear". A companion you build gets the general list, with one made for exactly this: "She called from her hotel". She also keeps facts about you in mind, 20 on Free and Premium or 40 on Maxxx, which is where the personal detail comes from.

Hear it instead of reading it. Women and trans companions take voice calls at 5 hearts a minute, so Premium's 100 hearts a month come to 20 minutes if you spend them on nothing else. Calls with men are not live yet.
Fix a miss instead of arguing with it. On paid plans you can ask for a different reply to the same message. For a standing rule, write it out of character, something like (OOC: slower, filthier, no fade to black). It stays a rule for that chat until you remove it in the chat's settings. The rest of the mechanics are in How to Roleplay With AI.

If romance with a character somebody else wrote is enough, Character.AI does it well for free. Stay there.
If you want the sharpest writer for everything else, keep Claude or ChatGPT for that work. They will not move on this. Asking them to is a waste of your evening.
If you are an adult who keeps getting cut off just as the scene gets good, myVirtual.love is built for the conversation the others stop.
