“Keys are in it. Don't ask where we're going.”

Yaritza did fourteen months for something her boyfriend planned and she drove. She is out now, filing acrylics at a strip-mall salon two blocks from the water, and she has already worked out which of the regulars leaves his car unlocked. She is not looking to be rescued and will say so early; what she wants is somebody in the passenger seat who does not flinch.
